2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime First Impressions; Ford'S Unveiling Of The 2021 F-150 | Talking Cars #262 1

This week we share our first impressions of the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, a plug-in version of the hybrid, and talk about the ups and downs of the electrification of the RAV. We discuss the newly unveiled 2021 Ford F-150 and all the changes, including a hybrid powertrain. Also, we answer audience questions about which factor is most important (mileage or age) when purchasing a used car, the mechanics of heating and cooling in electric cars, and could obstructing the A-pillar (with a dash cam power cord) potentially affect the side curtain airbag.

  1. Hybrid F-150 fascinates me.

  2. I was planning to buy a 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD but I didn’t because I couldn’t find one in my area and because I was worried about the complexity of the Awd and the mileage. So instead I decided to buy a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring.

  3. The F-150 shifter is innovative, but it’s an extra motor that can fail. What happens when you can’t bring it up?

You know what would have solved the same problem? A column shifter.

  4. I love the prime but I’m hearing it’s going to be hard to get one.

  5. Great to see Gabe again!

  6. I thought the plug-in gets less MPG than the regular hybrid in the hybrid mode due to its heavier weight.

  7. Glad to see Gabe, we need to see him more!!

  8. RAV4 Prime is limited to 5000 units in the US for at least the 1st model year due to battery production limitations. Good luck getting one and if you can get one, MSRP will be a good price. Toyota dropped the ball on the production of this one. So much hype and so out of reach for the majority of people that want to buy one.

  9. Yes, one of the hybrid

  10. Great show Thanks

  11. Wouldn’t a traditional gear selector on an automatic truck be a column shifter? That would sure save space.

  12. Hey Gabe 👋 good to see you again 😊, ofcourse we want to see you guys test the hybrid F150

  13. I enjoyed the video, quite informative.

  14. Really want to upgrade my 17 RAV4 Hybrid to the RAV4 Prime

  15. 15:40 thank you Gabe for correctly stating that it is a eCVT

  16. So much effort to stay away from a column shifter…

  17. Love RAV4 Prime. The eCVT has an old fashion planetary gear and not the belts like most CVTs. My RAV4 Hybrid’s eCVT is much better than my Subaru Forester’s CVT.

  18. Two words for Ford: column shifter.

  19. 10:27 if you can only by so many, and I’m assuming you can, I’d actually suggest axing the all gas options and just testing the new ones. Hybrid, diesel, and electric.

We know how the gas will perform by this point. It’s all the new stuff we’ll have questions about.

  20. Other Rav4 Prime impressions I’ve heard: 1) heaver/ponderous 2) softer ride 3) not the “sport” you’re expecting 4) look and decide carefully between the prime and hybrid
