    Regarding tire rim size change- your caller should explore other Toyota 17” OE rims with the same bolt pattern that are available thru auto wreckers or Facebook marketplace.

    Suzy safety is a bit extreme 🙄…if the car is kept on the road it will need a bit of money to do maintenance ie struts etc. The HRV is a good choice or a Toyota hybrid…🤔

    For the 1st question…keep the 2003 CRV for around town…rent a car for longer trips…

    Of the regen thing, I find Hyundai/Kia have my favorite implementation of it. You can control the amount of regen with the paddles on the steering wheel, and it defaults to off every key cycle. Having regen on the paddles makes coasting down long downgrades a whole lot easier!
