The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan stays true to its VW roots—refined, capable, and a little under the radar. It brings agile handling and European style to the small SUV market. But can it stand out against favorites like the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, and Toyota RAV4—or overcome the spotty reliability that CR members have reported in our surveys.

Stop saying blind spots. If you have your side mirrors adjusted properly, you should have no blind spots.People do not understand this.I do not get it.Adjust your mirrors properly and you will have no blind spots in the rear
Can you please hire a new person to review cars. This guy is a cry baby.
My main area of concern with VW is RELIABILITY, or lack thereof. As a manufacturer, many reports (including CR’s) and owner surveys put VW in the lower rankings. Way down after the top dozen with Jeep! Taos was rated in the low 20s/100. Not encouraging. I liked the new interior design overall. I did find the suspension a little harsh and clunky over edges and expansion joints, plus a lagging transmission on acceleration. To get the incoming 268hp engine, you need to opt for the very expensive top level “Turbo” (which is strangely named because they are ALL Turbo).
Ugh, more modal controls. C’mon VW, no-one likes these!
nice! love this guy.
Nothing really helpful. Just a lot of Nitpicking 😅 VW should focus more on reliability of course a nice vehicle 👍
Good review, but the touch controls, never mind, not interested.
I like the refresh, however I think they need a hybrid option to compete with Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda. I also think they need to bring back for physical switchgear.
I find the volume knob offering three different elements great. Easy way to change drive modes.
Great review. VW needs to study Hyundai in terms of interior controls.
If it’s easier to change the ambient lighting than the fan speed, you’re doing something WRONG.
That right knee banging into the center console is a problem with every SUV these days. Wondering if you covered this in the CX-50/5? It’s a much worse problem there than here (I own a CX-5). Test drove the CRV, and it’s even worse – and less cushioning. Did you cover that in the Honda??? Or just Honda and Toyota CR love as usual?
When will manufacturers learn that we all absolutely hate non physical slider controls? Especially on volume controls.
