The authorities in Dominica have expressed regret at the decision of a cruise liner to drop the island from its Caribbean itinerary.

Cabinet minister Charles Savarin called the decision of Carnival Victory to end the weekly stopover, a major blow to local tourism.

After almost 20 years of doing business with Dominica, the management of Carnival Victory cited the high costs of fuel as the main reason for the cancellation.
