Nasio Fontaine - Erupting out of the rugged mountains of Dominica from the east coast fishing village of Bagatelle comes a passionate voice of rastafari consciousness called Nasio Fontaine. Nasio

Nasio is truly a Caribbean person being of Amerindian and African ancestry. His mother is a full blooded Carib, the original people of the Caribbean while his father is a farmer. His parents still live at Bagatelle in Dominica. It was from this culturally fertile lineage in such pictureque country, with lush green forested mountains on the west and the deep blue ocean on the east that Nasio's inspiration to write germinated and took root, the passion of his voice is the flower of that ancestry. His first recording album was entitled Born to be free, in 1994 he then released his second album entitled Reggae power which includes nine big songs, such as, armed and dangerous, wanna go home, jah won't forsake I and many others. He has a 1997 single out entitled wolf catcher.

Nasio has lived in St. Maarten (Dutch) for the last fifteen years experiencing the big city life in what some say is the last pirate island freeport remaining in the Caribbean. It was in that place he fully embraced as he says "the rastafari livity" (way of life) he is now based in New York.

These experiences compounded with bestowed talent has created a gifted singer songwriter. He is a refreshing and insightful artist whose concerns for the social, cultural and environmental issues of the day as well as for individual reflection is apparent especially in his live performance. Personally he is a humble and an engaging person. His ability to speak four Europea languages makes him very outgoing as well as culturally and socially integrated. He hopes these qualities will assist him to realize his goal of bringing his musical and lyrical insights to as many living beings on the planet as possible.

In 1991 Nasio received artist of the year in St. Maarten and in 1996 he was a receiver of Dominica’s fame awards.
