It's a decision I had to make

The President Dominica Amateur Athletic Association

Dear Andy:

I know that you are going to be disappointed, but I have decided to explore the horizon and decided that I will jump for France. I know that you tried your very best to pursue the government to support the athletes. Anyway I feel that the support that I can get from the French Government will help me to maximize my potential, as I always believed that ability is of no account without opportunity.

In this regard, if the association accepts my decision, I would like for you to write a letter of release to the French Federation in order that the rest of the process can continue. I regret any inconvenience that my decision may have caused you, the DAAA, the DOC, and the Government. I just felt that it was time for me to move on.

If I were to say to you that I am positive that the change will be better for me, I would be lying to you. This is just one of the daily risk and/or sacrifice that I am willing to take. It is a decision that really will cause me much pain, mainly because of the youth and the Dominican public who have supported me throughout the years. That pain however will be my rock, my strength and my fire, and with the help of God, I will one day be able to make an even more positive contribution to the youth of Dominica.

I hope that you understand my point of view, and I also hope that my decision will change the way that the Government supports the young and budding athletes.

Again I sincerely regret any inconvenience that I may have caused the DAAA, the DOC, and the Government. I hope you understand.

Sincerely,

Jerome

Dominica

Short profile

~ he gained the bronze medal in the triple jump in the World Athletic Championships in Sweden with over 17 metres ~ the silver medal in the last Pan American Games in Argentina ~ the gold medal in the last Central American and Caribbean Games in Guatemala. On Friday 26th July, 1996 Jerome Romain, began his quest for the prestigious medal at the Olympic games in Atlanta, and all eyes was on the Bronze medalist Jerome, to bring home a medal for Dominica. Jeremy poised to give the triple jump his best shot; and too, the stirringly electrifying sprint he summoned in a do or die effort to push back the crippling pain he was feeling from a badly injured knee, but finally and to give it up.

This land is my Home

First of all I just want to say thanks to all the true fans who understand my cause. I really appreciate your support, and I think that I am going to need it more now than ever. To the critiques out there, I still got much love for you all, but do not cry a brother down because he is trying to make some strides in life. So if you want to sit there and cry shame on me for trying to be the best that I can be in what I do, then you go ahead and do that.

Follow me to France
I knew that everyone was not going to be happy with MY decision, but like I said it is a decision that I had to make for ME. Don't you think that we should protect and support our national interest, well I think so? You Magdalene, P. Victor and the rest of the homeboys and girls, I am always going to come home, I really appreciate the support, because I do deeply regret the move, but it is one I had to make.

One last note to the TRUE FANS AND SUPPORTERS, continue to put your hand, hearts and prayers together for me because I still need your fire to represent. May God Richly Bless All of You, and Mags, Thanks for the advise and encouragement, it really means a lot.

GOD BLESS
